It's about time we updated this blog with one of the best weeks of our lives. Honestly, I thought the wedding was unreal, but the SURPRISE honeymoon rocked my world. Best way to put it is to show you through pictures... and there's a lot of them.
First night we stayed at the Andaz in downtown San Diego. At this point I was already so blown away by how rad this hotel was -- sparing you the 'honeymoon' details, lets just say the room was above par. The hotel had a rooftop pool, yummy food, and was in the center of downtown. All of this equals Bball and EJ happiness. BUT that morning I received a text message from my homegirl, Tina Tiddy, implying the happiness was just beginning... because I was going to FIJI!!! (Yes, Tina ruined the surprise. Yes, Bball was sad. Yes, I was stoked.)
| Our unbelievable room!!! Exquisite bed, exquisite bed! <-- recognize the movie reference?! The favorite phrase on the islands of FIJI is BULA!! Meaning welcome, hello, and you're a babe. So they say. |
| Honestly we were in shock. To me this entire honeymoon was a surprise. To Brad it was just as exciting because he had seen the pictures but being there was just breathtaking. We were on the island of Maololo at the Liku Liku Lagoon resort. Our room sat on the sand with the ocean as our backyard... perfect! |
| Our backyard... Brad leaning over our plunge pool. WOW! |
| Meals were served three times a day in their main hut. The food was 5-star all the way. We tried some of the most random and exotic things -- coconut milk, woof. |
| Our backyard beach. Gosh I was so in love. |
| THE AHLSTROMS!!! In their element. |
| It's a honeymoon, expect lots of this ok?! |
| Maybe one of the greatest days -- the staff dropped off this handmade basket of treats for the week. Diet Coke, chips, and a hot man feeding them to you by hand. |
| Our daybed!! This was also in our backyard. Unreal sunsets and sunrises from this bed overlooking the ocean. |
| Another backyard shot -- Bball and I doing some free advertising for Liku Liku with their top-notch sarongs. |
| DINNER!!!! Dinner was always at least a four-course meal. So delish. |
Lunch --- again, yum. Every lunch began with a cleanser -- it was a small
little shot of blended fruits. So refreshing. They would then give you a
menu of 3 or 4 main courses, different each day, and you'd choose
an appetizer and dessert to go along with it. Threw my wedding diet out the door,
thank you very much! |
| THE POOL!!!!! Loved laying here and giggling over how ridiculous this vacation was. I mean look at that?! A disappearing edge straight into the Pacific Ocean! |
| Heaven in a glass. Pina Coladas by the pool -- wowowow! |
| When you get off the little tugboat and onto the island, this is the first thing you see -- the hotel lobby. |
| Yeah, we went fishing. Bball was the first one to catch something, go boy! |
| We went on a hike one day and found a completely secluded beach on the other side of Maololo. We had the entire shore to ourselves -- nothing for miles and miles. Talk about romantic! |
| On our beach |
| Yeah the shoreline is great, but so is my husband's six pack! WOO! |
| Fisherman...! |
| The only dock. |
| My man the wakeboarder! Brad wakeboarded in the middle of the ocean. Considering our island is so small and SO quiet, his wakeboarding woke everyone up. He had admirers the ENTIRE trip -- you would not believe the celebrity he turned into after launching himself over the wake and showing off for all the honeymooners. GO BOY! |
| Love him! |
This was by far the most perfect trip of our lives. We would catch ourselves at least two or three times a day just laughing and shaking our heads, both of us thinking 'is this really happening?' I've never been so happy, so at ease, so carefree in my life. It was the most perfect honeymoon with the most perfect man. We loved every lazy, sun-soaking minute of it. Liku Liku for Life!
